A Weekend House in São Paulo

SPBR Arquitetos’ Sunny Getaway
Posted by Gestalten—09/2017

While summer in Berlin’s a memory in the past tense, things are heating up in the southern hemisphere. Take spbr arquiteto’s sunny getaway house in São Paulo. Completed in 2014, the holiday home is made of a series of cantilevered volumes set above a central courtyard lush with greenery. The house is mostly made from concrete, which allows for an ample breeze to cool the interior spaces under the hot summer sun. Similarly, the ground floor is outfitted with extensive water features and plenty of shade from the enclosed areas above. Want to really feel the heat? There’s a deck on the top as well for those who want to fully enjoy the hotter months.
