Perfectly Pink in Portugal
Posted by Gestalten—10/2017

For the Red House, the designers at EXTRASTUDIO wanted to transform an out-of-use winery into a two-story home off the beaten path near Lisbon in Portugal. The architects added a 14-meter long window that opens to the small orchard near the back of the house while paying their respects to the original 20th-Century structure, which was erected by their client’s grandparents. Once inside, the subtleties of the exterior give way to a palatial entrance hall with a 9-meter high ceiling and smooth white flooring that maximizes the natural light.

Red House is one of many examples of creative designers working wonders on older buildings. See more in our book Upgrade, a showcase of renovations and refurbishments from around the globe.
