Gary Taxali

Last chance to see his first UK solo show in London
Posted by Gestalten—06/2012

On view at Steve Lazarides’ The Outsiders Gallery, “My Feelings Like You” is closing this Saturday. If you're in London and havn't yet visited the exhibition, we recommend you swing by to Gary Taxali’s first UK solo show. One of north America's foremost contemporary artists and globally recognised as one of the top fine artists working within popular culture, the prolific illustrator was nominated for a Grammy award in 2010 for his LP artwork for singer Aimee Mann.

Taxali’s art slickly reimagines 1930s art and iconography. The resulting work posseses a nostalgic feel with a modern sensibility. Inspired by vintage comics and advertising, he uses retro imagery in a very modern mash-up style, highlighting the perverse insecurities of modern life in a rampant consumer culture. More of his celebrated work is featured in Illusive 2 and in our upcoming compilation of illustrations for children's picture books “Little Big Books.”
