Eat Your Heart Out by Isabella Giancarlo

The Brooklyn Baker Turns Bitter Break-Up Messages into Sweets
Posted by Gestalten—03/2016

Even years after a particularly bad break up, it can be hard to forget the hurtful words exchanged. Isabella Giancarlo is casting these words in a new light—and a new pan. For her Eat Your Heart Out series, Giancarlo is decorating her handmade desserts with the phrases that we have all heard before—“It’s not you—it’s me”; “It’s not enough”; “We can still be friends”—and she has opened up a submission box to help spread her buttercream catharsis.

Since starting her project last month, Giancarlo and the photographs of her bittersweet sweets have taken the internet by storm. To see more work from our global community of creatives, explore the Gestalten Creative Pool.
