Page One

Posted by Gestalten—05/2005

Page One was first incorporated in Singapore in 1983. Since the beginning, it has concentrated on books related to subjects such as architecture, design (graphic, interior, product & fashion), photography and the fine arts. Thanks to its success in Singapore, Page One expanded into the Southeast Asian market in 1990s. The Festival Walk branch that we’re profiling here was opened in Hong Kong in 1998. With a total area of a whopping 13,200 square feet, the store not only features a large selection of design books, but also a café.

Joanne Soong, Page One's buyer, tells us that her favorite dgv book is Grimm while customers’ favorites include Pictoplasma, Los Logos, Device and Lingua Grafica. The store’s customers are mainly business professionals from fields including advertising, media and design as well as students and teachers.

A new, even bigger Page One branch has also just opened in Taipei!
